AUSTRALIAN Idol winner Kate DeAraugo says she is excited about going off to try for fame and fortune in Nashville.
The 23-year-old song bird, who could sing the telephone book in any key, said she just wants to sing. She doesn't care if it is rock and roll, blues, jazz or country she loves it all.

DeAraugo has been told her voice could wow the country scene, so the former member of the Young Divas is about to hit the road.

"Yes, winning Australian Idol definitely opened many doors for me, but once they are open you have to make sure they stay open and work it," said DeAraugo.
"The entertainment industry is very fickle and you can be on top one minute and forgotten the next."
One of her mentors was soul singer Venetta Fields, who not only gave her sound advice on singing but many great lessons on life which, given Venetta's fabulous talent for plain speaking, can't be repeated here.
